About MÉNOS

MÉNOS is a Hong Kong-based photography cooperative and artist collective established in 2018 to nurture local photographic culture. It documents city life through photography, exhibitions, and workshops, with notable photo-books including Ménos Prologue: HK Street (2019) and The Weight of Silhouette (2024), focusing on local collective memory.

Cheng founded the camera store Meteor HK in 2013 and MÉNOS 2018, a photo collective aimed at nurturing local photographic culture through workshops, exhibitions, photo-sharing events, and community activities.

As a freelance photojournalist, his images have been featured in various international and local media, including Sipa USA and Kyodo News.

He has also collaborated with fellow MÉNOS members to publish two photobooks: “Ménos Prologue: HK Street” (2019), which explores the everyday life of HK streets, and “The Weight of Silhouette” (2024), an abstract portrayal of the city’s forgotten stories from the last few years.

His works have been showcased in exhibitions such as “Prologue Hong Kong Street Exhibition” (2019), “The Weight of Silhouettes” at K11 Musea (2023), along with group shows like “Flower of the Other Shore” at the Shenzhen Museum of Art (2017). 

Since 2025, he has been represented by La Galerie Paris 1839, and recently participated with them in Art Central Hong Kong in March 2026.

Developed interest in photography in 2014 after discovering my father’s old film camera and has since been photographing my hikes, street walks and daily life, with particular interest on streetphotography and monochrome photography. Co-founded Ménos Photos in 2018 with other like-minded individuals to explore the root and implications of photography through sharing and discussions.

Brian WONG | Instagram

Studied Digital Media at University of New South Wales Australia, Brian has developed a wide range of skills which include videography and photography. Besides the day jobs as a cinema projectionist, Brian’s other hobby, photography, had led him to a group of friends and they established Ménos, a photo collective, in 2018. Brian had co-published photo books with Ménos:“Prologue: Hong Kong Street” in 2019 and “The Weight of Silhouette” in 2025.’

Cherry LEUNG | Instagram

Cherry Leung is a Hong Kong-borned, UK based photographer. Intrigued and inherently inspired by both the urban and natural surroundings and their relationships with the living, her works attempt to transform the intangible essence of sentiment-filled fleeting moments into visual and abstract representation of life and existence. Only through revisiting the ethereal imagery has she realised she has embarked on a self discovery journey through photography. Her works have been showcased in Hong Kong and New York.

Kwun Hei LEE | Instagram

Kwun Hei Lee is a Hong Kong-born street and documentary photographer whose passion for the medium flourished while living in Sydney, Australia. Initially a street photography enthusiast, he traveled globally to capture candid, fleeting moments. Inspired by the works of Robert Frank and Trent Parke, Lee transitioned into photojournalism in 2019. He is currently documenting the raw energy of Hong Kong’s underground music scene and the niche world of local wrestling.

Colin’s photographs focus on the changes and history of Hong Kong. Often travel between the border of Hong Kong and China to document the development through time. Since the 2nd publication of Menos, the role as photo editor has become a way to put my aesthetic fingerprint on the Hong Kong photography modern scene.

I am Simone Chung, a product designer who discovered a deep passion for photography while studying industrial design and later joined the Hong Kong photography community Ménos since 2020. I view photography as a medium for artistic expression. My work focuses on street photography and creative visual storytelling, using color and composition to convey narratives and ideas. Much of my photography documents local Hong Kong culture, capturing the dynamic relationship between people and their environment. I also explore abstract imagery to express inner emotions and achieve a balance of aesthetics.

Stan Ngai is a Hong Kong filmmaker. His initial exposure to photography stemmed from the passing of his grandmother. Since then, he has come to believe that images possess both documentary and creative qualities. Besides filmmaking, photography remains a valued pursuit for Stan Ngai. Living in the moment is his motto; he records and captures the present.

Mason Wai was born and raised in Hong Kong, now a photographer and pipefitter. He has been a self-taught photographer since 2019, most of his works are street photography, landscape and his life moments. His own curiosity and pondering of humanity is foundational for his photography.

Leo Ma, a Manifester, works as a visual journalist, encountering various social events on a daily basis. His works abandon a traditional documentary method, instead he uses a personal, emotional approach to respond to societal phenomena. His method reflects his belief on photography, which should provoke language and evoke new interpretations, rather than merely document reality.

Hei Nam PAK | Instagram

Pak is an aspiring architect, whose photography is a way of chronicling the wordless messages and meanings embedded in the natural and artificial forms around him. His most recent work materialised in the zine “Still, We’re Swimming”, which has appeared in Macau, Taipei and Leipzig via the Hong Kong Photobook Festival.

Murdoc Chung | Instagram

Murdoc CHUNG got his solid education background in photography from Hong Kong Christian Service Kwun Tong Vocational Training Centre in 2011. He has dedicated on street photography at the beginning, and now is exploring various styles of creating poetic images. He also strongly committed in black and white photography and darkroom printing, which makes his works combined two faces of tradition and novelty.

Dorothy Tsui sees photography as a medium to observe and record fleeting moments of order. Based in Hong Kong, her work serves as a visual diary of observations, finding a sense of structure and calm within the ordinary urban landscape. She records the subtle moments and quiet corners that shape the city's atmosphere.
